Long form postures

Part One of the Form

Whilst the student is developing the moving Chi Kung exercises part one of the form is now introduced. This section consists of sixteen movements depending on how you count the postures,the first section is the key to understanding the entire form and listed below is each posture.

 

Part One

  1. Prepare

    _ Feet together, both arms hang by your sides

  2. Beginning the form

    _ Right foot step to the right with hands hung by your sides
    _ Lift hands
    _ Lower hands
    _ Circle hands over

  3. Grasp sparrows tail

    _ Shift to the right with the right foot and hold the ball
    _ Ward off with left arm forwards
    _ Turn to right double ward off
    _ Roll and pull down
    _ Press with both hands
    _ Push with both hands
    _ Sit to rear and push left, both hands
    _ Sit to rear and push right, both hands

  4. Single Whip

  5. Lift Hands

    _ Roll back pull down
    _ Elbow and shoulder stroke
    _ Ward off with the right arm

  6. White crane spreads wings

  7. Brush left knee and push with right hand

  8. Play guitar

  9. Brush left knee and push with right hand

  10. Brush right knee and push with left hand

  11. Brush left knee and push with right hand

  12. Play guitar

  13. Step forwards deflect-parry and punch

  14. Seal off left hand from right

  15. Cross hands (completion of part one)

Part Two

When the Student has finished part one to a basic level part two is then introduced.

  1. Embrace Tiger and return to Mountain

  2. Grasp Sparrows tail

    _ Shift to to right with left hand up
    _ Turn brush knee push with left hand on a diagonal line
    _ Lift right hand double ward off
    _ Sit back pull down
    _ Press both hands
    _ Push both hands
    _ Sit back push left
    _ Sit back push right
    _ Double push hands high

  3. Fist under elbow

  4. Step back repel monkey right side

  5. Step back repel monkey left side

  6. Step back repel monkey right side

  7. Step back repel monkey left side

  8. Step back repel monkey right side

  9. Diagonal flying right side

  10. Sit back lift hands, forwards

    _ Sit back roll and pull down
    _ Elbow and shoulder stroke
    _ Ward off with right arm

  11. White crane spreads wings

  12. Brush left knee and push with right hand

  13. Needle at sea bottom

  14. Fan back through

  15. Turn the body and punch

    _ Punch upwards
    _ Sit back pull down

  16. Step forwards deflect and punch

    _ Sit back and pull downwards

  17. Diagonal flying to the left

  18. Step forwards to grasp sparrow's tail

    _ Double ward off
    _ Pull down
    _ Press
    _ Push
    _ Sit back turn and push to the left
    _ Sit back turn and push to the right

  19. Single whip

  20. Wave hands in clouds (repeat five times)

  21. Single whip

  22. High pat on horse

  23. Separate and kick out with the right foot

  24. Separate and kick out with the left foot

  25. Turn and kick out with left heel

  26. Brush knee left and push with right hand

  27. Brush knee right and push left hand

  28. Step forwards and punch low

  29. Turn and punch

    _ Punch upwards and pull down

  30. Step forwards deflect and punch

  31. Diagonal flying left

  32. Kick out with right heel

    _ Double push to the right

  33. Turn and strike the Tiger left

  34. Turn and strike the Tiger right

  35. Shift into the left, left arm deflection and kick out with right heel

  36. Double punch to the ears

  37. Kick with heel left foot

  38. Turn and kick out with right heel

    _ Pull downwards to the left

  39. Step forwards deflect and punch

  40. Seal tightly, lift left hand off right arm

  41. Cross hands (completion of part two)

Part Three

On completion of the second section the third and final part is then introduced. Many postures in section one and two are repeated in section three, these are as follows.

  1. Embrace Tiger and return to Mountain

  2. Grasp Sparrows tail

    _ Shift to to right with left hand up
    _ Turn brush knee push with left hand on a diagonal line
    _ Lift right hand double ward off
    _ Sit back pull down
    _ Press both hands
    _ Push both hands
    _ Sit back push left
    _ Sit back push right

  3. Single whip on a diagonal line

  4. Part the wild horse mane right

  5. Part the wild horse mane left

  6. Part the wild horse mane right

  7. Grasp Sparrows tail

    _ Lift right hand double ward off
    _ Sit back pull down
    _ Press both hands
    _ Push both hands
    _ Sit back push left
    _ Sit back push right

  8. Single whip

  9. Four corners Lady threads shuttles left

  10. Four corners Lady threads shuttles right

  11. Four corners Lady threads shuttles left

  12. Four corners Lady threads shuttles right

    _ Shift into left leg ward off left arm

  13. Grasp sparrows tail

    _ Ward off with left arm forwards
    _ Turn to right double ward off
    _ Roll and pull down
    _ Press with both hands
    _ Push with both hands
    _ Sit to rear and push left, both hands
    _ Sit to rear and push right, both hands

  14. Single whip

  15. Wave hands in clouds

    _ Repeat four steps and end on the right

  16. Single whip

  17. Snakes creeps down

  18. Golden rooster stands on one leg left

  19. Golden rooster stands on one leg right

  20. Step back repel monkey right

  21. Step back repel monkey left

  22. Step back repel monkey right

  23. Diagonal flying right

  24. Lift hands

    _ Sit back roll and pull down
    _ Elbow and shoulder stroke
    _ Ward off with right arm

  25. White crane spreads its wings

  26. Brush knee and push left side

  27. Needle at sea bottom

  28. Fan back through

  29. Turn the body and punch

    _ Upwards punch and pull down

  30. Step forwards deflect and punch

    _ Sit back and pull down to the right

  31. Diagonal flying left

  32. Step forwards and grasp sparrows tail

    _ Ward off with left arm forwards
    _ Turn to right double ward off
    _ Roll and pull down
    _ Press with both hands
    _ Push with both hands
    _ Sit to rear and push left, both hands
    _ Sit to rear and push right, both hands

  33. Single whip

  34. Wave hands like clouds Repeat three steps

  35. Single whip

  36. High pat on horse

  37. Thrust hand left

  38. Turn the body and kick out with the heel right foot

  39. Step forwards and punch down

  40. Diagonal flying left side

  41. Step forwards into Grasp sparrows tail

    _ Double ward off
    _ Pull down
    _ Press
    _ Push

  42. Single whip

  43. Snakes creeps down

  44. Step up and punch into seven stars

  45. Step back and ride the tiger

  46. Turn to sweep lotus kick right leg

  47. Bend the bow and shoot the tiger

    _ Pull down left arm

  48. Step forwards deflect and punch

  49. Seal tightly

  50. Crossing of the hands

On completion of part three, in depth form correction is then taught with two key points.

Form correction with Yin and Yang.

Form correction with spiral concept.

Within these two key points lays the foundation of the concepts and principles of Tai Chi.
